I have a great pleasure to pass you a letter through a celebrated poet, the member of the International Association of poets Mr. Walter Kowalik, who recently visited the highland village of Rekity in Ukraine and the Minor Academy of Literature and Journalism founded there.

In this academic institution study the gifted children, many of which are semi-orphans or orphans. The young writers publish their works in magazines and newspapers. Recently they published their first collective book “The village at the foot of Kychera”, which I have a pleasure to give to you.

The visit of Wolter Kovalik was a great joy for the children of the highland village, which is located 2600 feet above sea level. He was granted the title of the Honorary Professor of the Minor Academy of Literature and Journalism. On this occasion in Rekity there was a special session of the Academy and Walter Kowalik was granted the Professor title and certificate.

There was a warm and touching meeting of the highly respected overseas guest with the residents of the village and the listeners of the Minor Academy at the small bridge, which hence received the symbolical name of bridge Rekity-Chicago.

Poet Walter Kovalik was honored by one more distinction. He became a honorary citizen of Rekity village and in Tysovtsi area of the village he was granted a half-hectare land lot. At this field in the future there will be international literary festivals, which will promote the close friendship between the writers of Ukraine and United States of America.

I hope that Walter Kovalik will be able to find many talented young writers in the City of Chicago, whom we will gladly receive as members and listeners of the Minor Academy of Literature and Journalism, and give them the relevant certificates. Their works will be published in Ukrainian and American press and in future we will be able to publish bilingual books, which will enable to open broader perspectives for young talents of our countries.

Sincerely believing in that,
Wish you strong health and success in working for the good of people.

With respect,

The Rector
of the Minor Academy of Literature and Journalism,
writer,
the Distinguished journalist of Ukraine,

Vasyl Tarchynets
